Healey Mortuary is a funeral home with an on-site crematory in Salinas, California, situated in The Alisal neighborhood of East Salinas. The location serves families throughout the Salinas Valley with burial services, cremation services, funeral and memorial services, pre-need planning, reception and catered events, veterans services including military honors, ash scattering assistance, certified celebrants, and international transfers. Memorial diamonds and human composting are available through partner providers.
Founded in 1956 by Herbert C. Healey Jr. and his wife Joyce B. Healey under the original name Salinas Valley Mortuary, the business was established at its current address on North Sanborn Road and later renamed Healey Mortuary. The facility was purpose-built as a mortuary rather than adapted from a converted residence or commercial space, which distinguishes it from many older California funeral homes. In 1984, the founders' son David O. Healey joined the business, extending family involvement into a second generation of operations.
The facility includes multiple chapels, reception and event space, an on-site crematory, a cremation viewing suite, overnight visitation accommodations, identification viewings, and private viewings. Spanish-language and German-language services are available.
Healey Mortuary does not include an on-site cemetery. Pet cremation, licensed grief therapy, and legal or estate planning services are not offered.
Spanish-speaking families consistently note in reviews that bilingual service made the arrangement process more accessible, and staff members are frequently recognized by name across family feedback.
